Secure Online Shopping

Top Tips for Safe Online Shopping

Shopping Online is a great way of making purchases anytime, 365 days a year, However, we would recommend that you take some precautionary measures to protect yourself and ensure that you have an enjoyable time shopping on the global shopping centre that is the internet .

You can be sure when you go to a stores site on La Plaza Spain that it is a trusted business and you can shop securely.

1. Be aware of the specific stores terms and conditions: check payment, delivery and returns details. You will usually find this information in the help section of a store, or a link at the bottom of the stores website. All online merchants have policies and terms and conditions, these vary from store to store so please check you are happy with that store's terms and conditions before you place an order.

2. Keep a record of what you order, if you can print a copy of your order.

3. EU Law protects you against fraudulent use of your payment card in EU transactions. You receive more security by using credit rather than debit cards, but check with your card provider for their specific insurance against fraudulent use of your card and non-delivery or not fit for purpose items

4. Only give your payment card details over a secure connection and never by email, never disclose your PIN number to anyone and never send it over the internet.

5. You usually have at least 7 days to cancel an order and request a refund from an EU retailer. Do check specific terms and conditions at your chosen store.

6. Check the stores returns policy, in some cases you will be required to pay for the shipping costs to return goods and this may be expensive. Contact the store immediately if you want to return goods as some stores will have a time limit on returns.

7. Check your payment card statement carefully. You have at least 90 days to report a suspect transaction under EU regulations.

8. If you have a problem, contact the seller then, if necessary, the payment company, local Trading Standards Office and any 'trustmark' organisation the seller is registered with.

9. Above all be satisfied that the store is a respectable organisation, one that you would normally buy from on the High Street. If you don't feel confident with any part of the buying process, don't make the purchase.

Enjoy Shopping!!
